lyrics
-Aalloista-
Kaikuu aamutuuli aavalta
aukeaa selkä ulapan
kun taivas nielee aallokon
Omistaan tuo pilvensä tänne
pitkät rantansa varjostamaan
Katseen edestä syrjähtyen
vain hampaanjäljet ajastansa suo
Ei silti niin hyvää piirtoa
ettei koskaan huuhtois pois
Niin vaivatta keinuu rytmiään
kun sinut täältä vie
Ei kärsimystä enää;
olet siitä vapautunut
viimeisen kosketuksen
aalloista käsin antanut
Omistaan tuo pilvensä tänne
pitkät rantansa varjostamaan
Katseen edestä syrjähtyen
vain hampaanjäljet ajastansa suo
Näillä kohdin tuskin kukaan
tohtii enää kiistää
vajavaisuuttansa
Kun lyöntinsä jo olemuksellaan
jättää maailmoja alleen
niiden voimasta hiivun minäkin
Kun sumu kallioina ympärillä näyttäytyy
enkä muuta näe
ja ikävä päiväni syö

-Of the Waves-
The morning wind echoes from the sea
the waves gather afar
as the sky swallows the surge
Overshadowed are its long shores
by the clouds it creates of itself
A wave is but a fleeting moment
a painter of time now bygone
But never so fine a trace
as not to be devoured by the sea
So effortlessly swaying in its rhythm
while carrying you away
No more suffering;
no more for you to withstand
having given your final touch
from within the waves
Overshadowed are its long shores
by the clouds it creates of itself
A wave is but a fleeting moment
a painter of time now bygone
At this point
it would be hard to imagine
anyone denying their imperfection
As its very essence has a beat
capable of burying whole worlds beneath it
I too am diminished by its might
As the fog appears as cliffs around me
and it is all I am able to see
and the longing consumes my days
This black metal band from L.A. returns to the genre’s roots, delivering icy, forbidding songs with knife-sharp riffing. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 12, 2021
Aquilus took a decade off and came back like he never left! Bellum I is yet another piece of beautiful melodic black metal mixed with classical and folk that makes you wanna dance naked in a forest somewhere. The natural sounding production increases the atmosphere heavily. Griseus is a monumental black metal album for me but Bellum I isn't far behind. Can't wait for II! Ryan
